Faith and Friends Radio

Faith and Friends Radio does a segment on their radio station every week from October-December titled “Thank You First Responder Heroes”. An anonymous person nominated the Waynesville Police Department to be honored. On Wednesday, October 20th, 2021, Elaine (from Faith and Friends Radio) came to the Waynesville Police Department and presented Chief Copeland with a Certificate of Recognition as well as a couple boxes of Bill’s Donuts. Along with Chief Copeland accepting this certificate are SRO Shannon Mermann and Lt Daniel Bledsoe.

Special Response Unit / Command Center

The Waynesville Police Department acquired a Special Response Unit vehicle/Command Center. This will be used for various tasks such as surveillance, transportation to the range, acting as a Command Center for officers during the Sauerkraut Festival, setting up for the bike rodeo, etc.

Blue Goes Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Waynesville Police Department participated in the Blue Goes Pink initiative by Pink Ribbon Girls Inc. Officers donated $10 to the cause and received a black silicone wristband that says Pink Ribbon Girls on it with a thin pink line. The proceeds of the initiative go toward providing meals for patients who are battling breast cancer.
